Let's just get one thing straight about rape...
Abyss2hope: Rape prevention video
One person in the pairing commits the rape.
Not two.
A society that blames the victim is so fucked up I'm glad I'm not part of it.
The post I was referring to below was by a blogger who is trying to 'educate' feminists of the legal position on rape - narrowing the definition.
In my comment, I suggested that a scenario similar to the one shown in the video would not, in his analysis, be categorised as rape.
Because the perpetrator does not believe he is a rapist.
All that means, is that the perpetrator is a bloody typical male who can't see beyond his own 'needs' to an ounce of consideration for the other person.
In no way should it excuse rape.
Writing the post on facing up to fear and various discussions on the blogosphere over the last couple of days - notably Maia's man-hating post has guided my thoughts (always a little idle during milking, even though it's November :-)) back to college.
Sometimes it seems as though men really aren't that bad. All the ones I work with manage to keep their hands to themselves, their eyes in the appropriate place and their flies firmly zipped.
College must have been just a bad dream.
A dream persistently recalled of one male student after another trying to kiss, touch, insist on a relationship, fondle - within minutes of being alone with me. I figured out very quickly that guys had a built-in fifteen minute timer. They were safe for approximately fourteen minutes.
I'm talking about two or three guys a week, from the time I started college as an eighteen year old. One hundred per cent - no, I'm not making that figure up - 100% of males with whom I found myself alone.
Somewhere between fifteen and twenty males who I rejected before getting landed with a boyfriend I quickly lost interest in, and who refused to be dumped.
100% That figure still staggers me. Is it any wonder women don't trust men?
There was only one answer to the problem, and women throughout the ages have discovered it, and held to it. Find a male. Very large. Known for his foul temper. With an almost insane streak of jealousy.
Word gets out that you're this guy's property - and the flies stop buzzing.
There are a good number of commenters around who want to narrow the definition of rape, claiming feminists have expanded the term so much it has become almost meaningless.
The ones I've noticed, are all male.
And, I would guess, would all be inclined to say that the situation shown in the video is not rape.
Watch it. Decide for yourself. Look at the effect on the girl's life.
And remember - supposing she decided she want to press charges against this guy; what chance it would even reach the courts?
Not a hope in hell. Her word against his.
And while people are bringing up the subject of 'malicious' 'false' accusations, they need to keep a couple of things in mind.
To make an accusation, the victim needs to approach the police almost immediately and undergo a lengthy, unpleasant procedure of questioning and physical exam.
She has to be strong enough to bear the counter-accusations.
She knows he and his friends are going to hate her, and spread their own malicious rumours.
Few women will do it for their own sakes. And the many thousands, tens of thousands, even millions who have let their attackers go free and unaccused, who have lost their cases or who have been told they have no case to take to court - every one of them is made uneasy by the knowledge that their rapist can carry on raping, with impunity, multiplying the victims as the months and years go by.
A rape is a life sentence for the victim. Not only for what happened, but because every failed conviction or secret kept means more victims. More women raped. We bear the blame.
We don't need men blogging to tell us where the definitions of rape should lie. All we want is to pass the blame from our shoulders to those who earned it.
We want men to stop raping.
It really *is* that simple.
Women cannot stop rape. Men can.
I want a twenty-four hour truce during which there is no rape

Exactly!
One of the things that I finally figured out is how different sex is to men than to women. They have been trained that it is their right and biological necessity to try and get "it." The object being sex. The Object making the woman simply a container of sex. And to make women feel stupid if they expect men to think or behave differently. They're guys, c'mon, you know they only have one thing on their minds!
This leaves them incapable of being responsible of realizing a woman DOESN'T want it unless she is screaming no and kicking and etc. Unless the female does that then she wants it too.
